Clear aligners in New Albany, Corydon & Floyds Knobs

Clear aligners, such as 3M Clarity or the Invisalign® system, are made of transparent, lightweight plastic that fits over your teeth. Clear aligners are designed to straighten your smile. They’re removable, making it easier to eat, drink, brush and floss.

Clear aligners are much more comfortable than traditional metal bracket braces and can give you stunning results in New Albany, Corydon or Floyds Knobs.

How do clear aligners work?

At your first free consultation at Periago Orthodontics, you’ll get digital scans and X-rays taken to help us create a 3D image of your mouth.

Dr. Periago and our team create your first set of custom-fitted aligners from these images, and then you’ll begin the journey of straightening your teeth.

You’ll wear your clear aligners for around 9–15 months and will use 18–30 sets on average, but Dr. Periago will determine your precise time frame at your first free consultation. You wear the trays for about 22 hours a day but you can take them out to brush and eat.

Based on your individual needs, and the treatment plan put in place by Periago Orthodontics, you’ll wear several sets of trays throughout your orthodontic treatment. You’ll even start to notice a change in just a few months!

A modern approach to braces

Clear aligner treatment takes a modern approach to straightening teeth. It uses a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth.

Wearing the aligners will gently move your teeth into place little by little, based on the exact movements Dr. Periago plans for you.

With clear aligner treatment at Periago Orthodontics, there are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners about every two weeks until your treatment is complete.

At Periago Orthodontics, you’ll achieve a great smile without a treatment that interrupts your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.

This nearly invisible option to straighten your teeth is truly changing the way people see orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Periago has a lot of experience treating patients with clear aligners, and we’re excited to offer this technology to our New Albany, Corydon, and Floyds Knobs braces patients.

Differences between braces vs. clear aligners

Unlike metal braces or clear braces at Periago Orthodontics, smooth plastic clear aligners don’t have metal parts that may irritate your mouth.

Because you take them out to eat, you won’t have to watch what you eat like you would when wearing braces (like peanuts and popcorn!)

You’ll need to take out your aligners to eat and drink anything besides water. You need to ensure you’re willing to do that before you decide on clear aligners in New Albany, Corydon and Floyds Knobs.

To prevent staining, you’ll need to brush your teeth each time you eat before putting your aligners back in your mouth.

Thankfully, brushing and flossing are way easier than with metal braces because you won’t have to work wires or bracket wires.

Talk to Dr. Periago about clear aligners

It’s important to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day, as recommended by Dr. Periago so they can do their job and straighten your teeth. But, with clear aligners, you can remove your aligners for special occasions.

Like with traditional braces, you’ll generally need to wear a retainer from Periago Orthodontics after clear aligner treatment to maintain your new, confident smile.

Dr. Periago may not recommend clear aligners for some more complex alignment or bite issues, or for those who have bridgework, and can advise you about what options are best for you.
